Functional Neurology, also called Chiropractic Neurology, is the method of clinical evaluation and treatment of the central and peripheral nerve systems. This emerging discipline is getting a great deal of attention lately due to the elite clientele of Dr. Ted Carrick – father of Functional Neurology and the founder of the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies. Perhaps you have seen the recent media coverage of Olympic athletes, NHL & NFL players as well as war time veterans who have had their lives restored thanks to the work of Dr. Carrick and his graduates.
Primarily, functional neurology is used in the rehabilitation of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) or concussion.
Dr. Fiona Lovely has been studying with the Carrick Institute for a number of years and is excited to be one of the first to have brought this work to Calgary and Southern Alberta. Dr. Lovely is an eligible candidate with the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. She is a member of IAFNR (International Association of Functional neurology and Rehabilitation) and is continuously training to learn the most contemporary therapies for rehabilitation of the brain. Her approach is looking at the systems functionally – that is to evaluate how all the organs and glands are co-operating (or not) in conjunction with the brain. She includes nutritional and lifestyle advice and assessment for her patients.
Dr. Lovely has worked with many brain related disorders, helping you make excellent healthy choices for your brain while using specific neuro-plastic therapies to help your brain function optimally no matter what your age.
Functional Neurology is brought to the table to assist on a case by case basis. If you think you or a loved one might benefit from our work please call 403.457.4868 to book a consultation where Dr. Lovely can assess whether you are a candidate for care.
